Join dye expert Debbie Tomkies for an amazing day dyeing fabric with natural indigo and woad. If you’ve never tried indigo dyeing before you’ll be fascinated by this magical process!

During the day you’ll try your hand at dyeing fabric in our indigo vat, learn about resist, tie-dye (shibori) and overdyeing. You will create a stunning, hand-dyed scarf or tote bag to take home. You can also bring along a t-shirt/shirt/leggings to dye on the day (or buy extra items).

And if you want to carry on your indigo adventures at home, Debbie will show you how to set up and maintain a simple indigo vat. There will also be dye kits and supplies available to purchase so you can put your new skills into practice straight away.

Suitable for: All levels, beginners are very welcome and there will be plenty for dyers with some experience to enjoy too.

You will need: Nothing! All equipment and materials are included.

What you will take home: A lovely, one-of-a-kind scarf or tote bag. The knowledge and skills to indigo dye at home, including how to set up your own simple natural indigo vat.

Refreshments: Tea and coffee are provided but please bring lunch (or sample the fare from one of the numerous lovely food shops nearby).

Fee: £55 (members/£50 non-members). Fee includes a beautiful silk scarf to the value of £10 or a handy tote bag.

Note: You will have materials to dye on the day but if you wish, you may bring an additional small item to dye. For example, a cotton t-shirt or leggings, a silk shirt or scarf, wool fabric (hat/scarf for example) or up to 100g natural fibre yarn or fibre. If you’re not sure, please ask and we can advise what to bring.
