Make a Card - Share a Smile -Robin in the snowCalling all card-makers and crafters! Welcome to Make a Card – Share a Smile!

This is a special request to ask you to make a greetings card for an older person who might not otherwise receive a card this Christmas.

In the excitement of Christmas and the hustle and bustle of festive shopping, it’s a sad fact that many older people will not receive any cards to put on their sideboard or pin on their wall. But we can change that!

As part of Make Sale Smile, we’ll be getting people together to make Christmas cards which will be distributed by Cyril Flint Befrienders and local pharmacies to isolated older people in the community. Can you help?

How can I get involved?

We would love you to join us at Tesco in Sale on 27th November any time between 10.30am and 2.30pm. No artistic skills required, just enthusiasm, so come along and have some fun! Everyone is welcome, the more the merrier! It’s free of charge and all materials will be provided. Adults and accompanied children welcome.

Not free on that date?

If you can’t make the session, no problem. You can post or drop off cards at the address below.

Do I have to make lots of cards?

Not at all! We don’t want anyone to be missed off our list so whether you make a batch of cards or one, every single card will be much appreciated!

I’m not very crafty. Can I just send a card?

Of course! Please see the instructions on sending cards below, sign your cards and post/drop them off. We’ll do the rest.

I’m a teacher, can my class make cards?

Absolutely! Card-making can be enjoyed by children of all ages, students and adults. It’s also a great way to get the class talking about what loneliness means, about giving and sharing and about how their cards can help combat loneliness and isolation.

What about my craft group/WI/social group/faith group?

Certainly! We’re keen to encourage participation from local groups. Let us have your details and we’ll be happy to promote your group too – you may open up the opportunity for an older person to join you!
