This exciting, fun one day workshop is an ideal introduction to hand-dyeing for beginners.

Debbie will guide you through the basics of hand-dyeing yarn with procion mx synthetic dyes. During this full day dyeing experience you will begin with colour sampling, colour blending and mixing; how to work with the dyes using a range of techniques and dyeing styles, including immersion, solid and semi-solid colours, veil dyeing, handpainting and rainbow dyeing. You’ll then dye a lovely skein of yarn in your own choice of colours. A free knit or crochet pattern from Debbie’s design collection is also included so you can make your yarn into something special as soon as you get home!

  • Suitable for: All levels, no experience needed
  • Materials required: None, everything is provided
  • Fee: £55 (members/£50 non-members). Fee includes a skein of yarn to the value of £10 and a pattern to the value of £2.50.
  • What you will take home: A range of colour samples and recipes, your skein of hand-dyed yarn, a knitting/crochet pattern
  • Refreshments: Tea/coffee and biscuits included

How to book:

Please select your ticket type and the number of tickets required (members of Open Studios may take advantage of a discounted price). We will then contact you to confirm your booking, provide booking information and arrange payment. Payment may be made by paypal (using a paypal account or a credit/debit card), or over the phone with a credit/debit card.



Occasionally courses may be cancelled due to circumstances beyond our control. In this case, we will normally offer a booking on a future date or a refund. If you are booking travel/accommodation we recommend making a refundable booking as we cannot be responsible for costs of non-refundable travel.

Should you need to cancel a booking, we will try to offer a transfer to a future course. Bookings cancelled within 7 days of the course are non-refundable.
