This exciting, fun session is an excellent introduction to natural dyeing for beginners.
If you’ve ever fancied natural dyeing but have been put off by thoughts of grinding up barks, bugs and fungi, this is the course for you! Simple to use and extremely versatile, natural dye extracts are fully intermixable powders and pastes which can be used to produce a wonderful range of colours.
In this fun-packed, friendly day, dye expert Debbie Tomkies will teach you how to mordant (fix) fibres, and dye luscious, solid shades. There will also be the opportunity to try your hand at rainbow dyeing and colour blending. You will dye a lovely 100g skein of yarn in your own choice of colours. A knit or crochet pattern from Debbie’s design collection is also included so you can make your yarn into something special as soon as you get home!
Suitable for: This course is suitable for complete beginners as well as for those who simply want to brush up on their skills or just have a fun day out playing with colour! So, whether you are a knitter, spinner, crocheter, felter or textile artist, you’re sure to have a great time.
Refreshments and lunch will be provided on the day. With a slice of scrumptious cake in the afternoon!
